Welcome to the 60's

Dear Diary,

For the most part of today (given that I woke up about midday, mmmmm.....) I have done nought but sit on my lazy arse watching Shaun play Rollercoaster Tycoon and listen to 60's, 70's and 80's music. And I had completely forgotten just how much I FUCKING LOVE IT. The music, that is, although it has to be said, Rollercoaster Tycoon is an outstanding game.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE 60'S (and 70's and 80's)

The videos are always so fantastically misted over - like someone's put some clingfilm or similar over the camera lens. You constantly feel like you're in a dream, which, thinking about it, maybe you are. Such is the power of the classics.

The songs themselves. Always SO DAMN CATCHY.

The clothes. WHY do people not dress like that so much anymore?

There's a reason Harry Casey looks so happy whilst bashing a piano and belting out "I'm your boogie man" - it is because he is in KC and the Sunshine Band. What more can I say. That song makes me happy every single time I hear it.

Having seen Jimi Hendrix perform Johnny B. Goode, I can now say my life is complete

A good strong disco bassline NEVER gets old, the result being I could listen to "Funkytown" all day.

Donna Summers can do nothing but wave her arms around for 6 minutes solid (i.e: in the "I feel love" video) and still be completely fabulous and sexy without even having to get naked (take note, Ms. Spears)

On that note, I was thinking the other week about good old Britney. The X Factor gig was supposed to be her big return to our screens, and given the amount of times Dermot O'Leary hyped up the audience with claims that he "couldn't believe he was saying this" and how excited he was, I was expecting a comeback of Take That-esque proportions. What I can't say I expected was her soi-disant "performance" to consist of mainly walking back and forth across the stage, miming the shit out of an annoyingly repetitive song, with her ass hanging out her shorts. Oh wait, it's Britney Spears. Of COURSE I should have expected that.

Speaking of X Factor, apparently Diana went out last night. This CANNOT be true..... must watch recording on Sky.

Meeting Lisa (who is back from Oxford) later tonight for a Pizza Hut and a catch-up. Literally cannot wait to see her, it's been a while. :-)
