Dear Diary,
Despite what the "Time posted" below may tell you, it is in fact twenty to four in the morning, as I am currently in my wind-down period. Tonight was a great shift. Wore my new earrings and heart pendant..... and the hot-pink lipstick, which looked AMAZING!! Not to mention I seamlessly made the transition from "sleek, professional, pulled-back" hair to "unleashed, bouncy, sexy, wavy, take-me-to-bed-and-ravish-me" hair (i.e: It was tied up and then I let it down) after we'd finished working with the food. But yeah, cracking shift, for many reasons - the main one being that as I was in Party Room 1 as opposed to Room 2 (which I'm usually in), my area manager was not Carmichael, but Lee. Sweet. Trouble is, I've discovered that it's very difficult to establish whether someone is looking at you because they love your sexy hair and are secretly trying to picture your face on their pillow, or because they are in fact giving you (and 12 others) a brief pre-starter meeting. Hmph. I'd like to think it was the former - and not just because that might have been what I was doing...... (*cough*)
Anyway, by and large, I think I much prefer working in Room 1 - not just cos of the continual presence of Lee but also because it's a change of scenery, and I had much more of a laugh with the Room 1 staff (Hey, I'm a poet, etc.... etc...) Although the DJ - another fittie though he may be - sang along kareoke-style to every song he played for about AN HOUR while people were trying to eat. Anyone who can murder Take That, Jackson 5 and Wheetus in rapid sucession goes down in my respect slightly......
Eeeeeee, anyway. The shift was awesome though. Got put in "Team Parfait" (Lee's idea - nice to know a sense of humour lurks behind that workaholic front) for the Pate' starters, burnt the shit out of my hands by spilling soup on them, (right in front of him, *groan*) cramped my fingers when serving the main courses and took about 5 years to find someone decaffe coffee, but it all worked out in the end, I like to think. Got to know a few more of the staff too, who were really cool and fun - so had a giant laugh (not to mention a little bit of a dance-off) in the kitchens.
Nothing else to report really, apart from a moment near the end of the party where Lee came into the kitchen to muck in, REMOVED HIS JACKET (which I've never seen him do) and started cleaning up with us, joking: "The jacket's off now, it's the final push of the weekend!" And I totally didn't try to smell his jacket as I walked past where it was hung up in the corridor..... Hehee. Although I certainly wasn't laughing when for some reason he came and stood next to me - closer than usual. Naturally I went to move back to reclaim my British sense of "personal space" but then thought "Fuck it" and stayed put. And I've got to tell you, I don't think my body's ever reacted that way to merely standing next to someone before. My heart started going and I got a tad breathless - especially with our arms/elbows touching, knowing there was nought but a white shirt separating me from his body. And what amazes me even more is that I just made that story a PARAGRAPH long. I am such an almighty twit.
6 THINGS I'VE DISCOVERED (THROUGH STELTH QUESTIONING OR OTHERWISE) ABOUT LEE TONIGHT:
1) He is 24 years old
2) He came straight out of uni into this job
3) He is apparently a "funny drunk"
4) He is the first chubby-ish man I've found madly sexy since Jack Black and Matt Berry
5) He is a smoker (or at least possesses a lighter. As do I - doesn't necessarily mean anything)
6) Today he was wearing white and red boxers (well he bent over slightly - course I was gonna look)
TOP 5 MOMENTS OF THE NIGHT
1) Me and Ryan discovering a bucket-full of drink dregs, used lemons, limes and straws, wine and floating bits - naming it the "Dirty Pint" and interviewing everyone on how much they'd have to be paid to drink one mouthful. (Lowest - £50, Highest - £200)
2) Having a Sing (and Sway)-A-Long with Rebecca to "Fairytales of New York"
3) Me and Christian analysing the lyrics of almost EVERY song that came on
4) Hilarious 45 minutes where we huddled on the stairs in our coats, looking like refugees whilst waiting for our taxis
5) Lee standing incredibly close to me and not even doing the perfunctory "Oh, I'm sorry," move-away, even when I gave him the option. Contact has been established. In his shirt! Mmmmm..... shirt
Sweet baby Moses, it's 4am. Must get to sleep
